Australia Day Breakfast at Newport Beach

What a fabulous and very hot day we had entertaining the crowds at the Newport Beach Australia Day Breakfast on Friday. Thanks to all the local community groups who hosted this family friendly event our very own Alex Kirk who was the official MC for the day - what a fantastic job she did. Our singers were greeted by our local, state and federal politicians, Mayor Sue Heins, Rory Amon MP and Dr Sophie Scamps MP along with Uncle Neal Evers who gave the Welcome to Country to open proceedings. Rory Amon was very impressed with hearing our National Anthem in 4 part harmony of the first time. As the crowd followed the shade we entertained them with Australian songs such as Love is in the Air, I am Woman and I am Australian, among others.

No Cobwebs on NBC!

Northern Beaches Chorus got straight back into 2023 with a bang with coaching first rehearsal back with Rob Mance. Not your usual rehearsal, Rob concentrated on vocal production giving each section their own exercises.

Our returning Christmas program members where thrown in at the deep end with this rehearsal, getting valuable vocal couching in an unconventional way. Bob concentrated on one section at a time giving each a different exercise to produce the best unit sound.

Between listening, singing and laughter the Bases were singing through paper cups, Leads were holding their larynxes, Tenors poked their sternums and Barris took selfies! You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d walked into some weird self-expression group instead of a choir rehearsal!
